Counseling is a process where trained professional guide and support clients in dealing with issues and concerns they are facing in their life.

Depending on your individual circumstances and issues, counseling can help you to:

  • Enhance self-understanding
  • Learn how to deal with mental health issues (such as anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression)
  • Learn to cope more effectively with daily life stressors
  • Improve relationships with other people
  • Improve and learn new skills (such as communication, assertiveness, problem solving skills)
  • Work on personal growth

Simply put, it is a form of talk therapy where you can share and discuss your issues with a trained professional who is listening and helping you deal with them in a way that helps you move forward and live a meaningful life.

Counseling is suitable for people of all ages (children, youth, adults, seniors), cultural backgrounds, and it can be provided in individual, couples, family, and group setting.

Counseling IS:

  • Process of guiding, supporting, listening
  • Confidential
  • Non-judgmental
  • Person-centered, meaning tailored to individual needs and values of each client

  • Collaborative relationship between counselor and client
  • Active participation, meaning client is active participant at every stage of counseling

Counseling IS NOT:

  • Giving advice or telling clients what should they do
  • Being judgmental
  • Uniform for all clients
  • Relationship where counselor holds all the answer and client knows nothing
  • Passive participation where counselor prescribe ready-made solutions
